East Devon Results
1st Roy Mitchell - 43
2nd Matt Latham - 41
3rd Mel Brash - 39
Matt takes the title but is pushed right to the end by Roy!
Roy Mitchell's experience helped him almost pull it off again at the 14th and final event of the season.
Roy hit a superb 43 and had his hands on the cup with only one group left on the course.
However, Matt Latham had other ideas and set about paring the course and scoring 41 points of a handicap of 5 winning the prestigious ETGS Cup by 2 points.
Overall 3rd place went to 2002 ETGS Cup winner Graham Taylor.

Handicap Adjustments
With only one event to go Matt Latham has moved ahead of long time leader of the pack Roy Mitchell. Several could finish with a high score to take this years title (Peter in 4th place only needs a 37) but Matt & Roy will no doubt be favourites. Roy famous for hitting 50 points during a flawless round at East Devon in 2004 will have his work cut out with palairet team Member Matt improving all the time and playing on his own course.

7/7/07
With seven events to play and seven to go the leader board is taking shape with Roy Mitchell starting to establish a lead. Roy's consistent golf has pushed Ken Wickes and Peter Bonetta into 2nd & 3rd place respectable but both Ken & Peter have low scores to knock out.
Mark Reynolds should be a contender at the end though missing too many events has previously cost him the championship.
Another good bet playing only 4 events so far this year is previous 2002 Club Champion Graham Taylor, if previous form is anything to go by look out for him moving up the board during the run in.
Next event - Okehampton, Wednesday 11th July.
1st Tee - 3.00pm (Draw at 2.50pm prompt!)
Sponsor for the day - LAWSONS ELECTRICAL.
Very enjoyable course if the weather holds with excellent food and service at the 19th hole.
6/7/07
After a two day battle against the elements the Bandits managed to defeat the Bogies by one point and retained the trophy for another year.
Tactics for this year seemed to come more from the Bogies who after being 1/2 point down on the Friday tried to get the Bandits Hammered. My partner Ken Wicks and I were in particular singled out by their Captain for extreme provocation from Martin Jewell and Nick Paris, having to force lager down the throat in under 7 seconds and having Guinness spiked with unnecessary amounts of Port is totally out of order Graham! Didn't work though cu's we won and looking forward to the battle continuing off the course again next year!
Last to bed award went to New boy Roger Shorland, Steve Latham, Graham Clarkson and Dave Lawson.
Sundays Challenge Cup went to a much improved Martin Jewell who seemed to handle the weather better than most, probably because he lives in the harsh elements of Okehampton
Previous 2001 Club Champion Paul Kelly lost out on the back nine after a excellent 1st nine holes.
3rd place went to Wayne Taylor who still holds the record for the winning the Challenge Cup the most times.
Thanks again for The GAG Group & Cooksleys Estate Agents for sponsoring all the table wine on Friday and Saturday night.

TEAMS FOR BOWOOD
25/6/07
Our next and 7th event of the season is to be held at Bowood Park in deepest Cornwall.
The course is well known as being "similar to Valderrama or Sotogrande" but with a less posh and more relaxed atmosphere that can extend well into the early hours.
Those that have been before will now what to expect, those that have not will not be disappointed but look out for the renowned card school where a lot of money has been won and lost on the turn of a card. (Ask Graham)
The team events Tee-off at 1.06pm although our Captains Graham for the Fockers & Mel for the Bandits would like you there at least an hour before to sort out tactics for the day.
TEAMS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON TUESDAY 25/6/07

Lyme Regis
With 21 Pars and 3 Birdies between them, on a course they had never seen before, Richard (hcp 9) and Matt (5) lead the field to take 1st and second place respectively.
Mark Reynolds (21) opened his account with a fine 35 to take 3rd place after a count back with Matt.
The rest of us mortals still rusty from the long break since East Devon scrambled around with good holes and blobs scattered throughout the cards.
The wooden spoon went to Phil (15) with 17 points. Still recovering from a dislocated shoulder our champion of last year gave the excuse that being out driven on every hole by Paul Marshall (26) totally threw his game.
It only became apparent over dinner that Paul is currently being prescribed performance enhancing steroids!!.
This position of Chairman obviously has its its benifits, though steroids is probably pushing it to the limit.
To even things up Paul can we all have them at the next event?.
Overall though a great day with no fog on a good course and excellent food in the restaurant, our thanks to Paul and Churchill's Accountants for organising the event for the 2nd year running.
Sponsors Prizes;
N. Pin, - Gary Shrimpton (28)
N. Pin in 2, - Richard Beynon (9)
L. Drive, - Ken Wicks (24)
Ken Wicks has kindly offered to organise the NP, NP in 2 and Longest Drive markers at each event, many thanks again Ken.
Handicaps will be agreed and adjusted next week in time for The Warren.
26/3/07
The 1st event at Lyme Regis is sponsored by our Chairman Paul Marshall who assures me that our group will not be attacked from three sides again by players lost in the fog firing balls down what they thought was their fairway! With Pat Lipp firing his 3 wood up his fairway, Ken Wicks coming from behind and visibility 20 yards I am not sure if he can keep his word so I will get Steve Latham to check my life policies.
Our Captain Peter Bonetta (please read his comments on the ETGS page) will no doubt put his stamp on the season and certainly be one of the leaders fighting for top spot.
If you have any small problems or suggestions Peter is your ideal 1st port of call so he can bring it to the committee.
If there
are any major problems or disasters Peter is your only port of call (That includes any hassle when were on tour).
Many of the members have told me they missed the comments posted on the web site for each event, this worked very well during the 2005 season when I would do the prologue and Ned would do the epilogue.
If anyone wishes to take on the roll this year please let me know even if it is only for a few events. (John, if you want to get away from changing the nappies and with your highly regarded sports reporting background you would be the ideal candidate).
Another role that needs filling is the sorting out of the NP, NP in 2 and L Drive markers, this will be made easier this year with our own markers brought to each event. Whoever decides he can help out will just have to bring them along and take them home each time we play. Please let us know ASAP if you can do this and for what events.
Anyway with only 2 days to go i'm off to find my clubs for some practice, see you all at Lyme Regis.
